America's Sexual Health Report Card: High Pleasure, Low Testing Rates, and Stark Gender Disparities
Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy study of 2,555 adults highlights an 87% pleasure rating alongside 50% never being tested for HIV and disproportionate sexual violence against women.
Boston: A landmark study published in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy surveyed 2,555 Americans aged 18 to 94, documenting that 89% consented eagerly to their last encounter and 87% experienced pleasure.
However, testing rates remain strikingly low, with 50% never screened for HIV and 47% never tested for other STIs. Troublingly, 22% of women and 39% of gender-diverse participants reported surviving sexual violence, highlighting severe ongoing vulnerabilities.
