Washington: A concerning nationwide survey from Testing.com has uncovered a significant gap in sexual honesty. In a poll of 7,895 U.S. adults, 45% of respondents who had tested positive for an STI admitted to having sex at least once without disclosing their diagnosis.
Among this group, 59% engaged in unprotected sex without informing their partners, and 17% reported that a partner subsequently contracted the infection. Primary justifications included embarrassment or shame (49%) and underestimating transmission risk (33%).
