Nairobi: The UNEP's landmark report Limiting Overshoot warns that current governmental pledges and emission pathways will inexorably carry global warming to 2.3°C above pre-industrial levels.
Even under aggressive mitigation models, a rise of 1.8°C appears locked in. With global temperatures already 1.4°C higher and rising 0.25°C per decade, the UN called for halving emissions by 2035 to curtail catastrophic climate tipping points.
