America's Sexual Health Report Card: 89% Derive Pleasure, But 50% Have Never Taken an HIV Test
Columbia University Mailman School study of 2,555 adults reveals an 87% pleasure rating but only a 56% satisfaction rate, with half the population never screened for HIV.
New York: Researchers at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health published a landmark study in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy surveying 2,555 U.S. adults aged 18 to 94 using the WHO SHAPE framework.
While 89% consented eagerly to their last sexual experience and 87% derived pleasure, overall fulfillment sat at just 56%. Alarmingly, 50% had never tested for HIV, 47% never tested for STIs, and only 31% had discussed sexual wellbeing with a healthcare clinician.
