Asian Games 2026: Grand Send-off for 503-Member Indian Contingent to Aichi-Nagoya
India accorded a grand send-off to its 503-strong contingent for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, featuring over 300 first-time athletes.
New Delhi: At a gala ceremonial send-off in New Delhi on September 8, 2026, Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Dr. P.T. Usha unveiled the official ceremonial kit for the Indian contingent heading to the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Dr. Mandaviya declared, "I have absolute faith that our athletes will deliver record performances, inspiring the nation on the global stage."
The minister highlighted that over 300 of the 503 athletes are making their Asian Games debuts, reflecting the emergence of grassroots talent. He reaffirmed India's roadmap to host the 2036 Olympic Games, supported by over ₹36,000 crore in 10-year sports infrastructure outlays.
The Games will run from September 19 to October 4, hosting over 11,000 athletes from 45 nations across 43 sporting disciplines.
